GEBBEN VAN VENROOY RACING LINE UP – WK MXGP 2022
Na een lang en mooi wereldkampioenschap MXGP in 2021, is het Gebben Van Venrooy Yamaha Racing teams zich nu aan het concentreren op seizoen 2022. Het seizoen begint al vroeg op 19 en 20 februari in het Britse Matterley Basin. Dit betekent dat er maar een korte pauze is waardoor de wintervoorbereiding anders zal zijn dan normaal. Desondanks is het team enthousiast voor de start van het nieuwe seizoen.
Het team is enthousiast om mede te delen dat Calvin Vlaanderen voor het derde achtereenvolgende jaar actief blijft binnen het team. Naast Vlaanderen zal het Litouwse talent Arminas Jasikonis gaan rijden en dit zorgt ervoor dat het Gebben van Venrooy Yamaha team een hele sterke line up heeft voor seizoen 2022. Vlaanderen heeft zijn contract met een jaar verlengt terwijl Jasikonis ook een 1-jarige deal met het team heeft gesloten.
De laatste drie seizoenen was Jasikonis fabrieksrijder voor Husqvarna en het team is enthousiast om hem in de Yamaha familie te verwelkomen en het volledige potentieel van de 24-jarige crosser te gaan bereiken.
Commentaar Calvin Vlaanderen: ‘’Ik ben heel blij dat ik mijn samenwerking met Gebben van Venrooy Racing verder kan zetten in 2022. We zijn als een team flink gegroeid in de laatste twee seizoenen en ik verwacht in 2022 niet anders. Ondanks dat we een klein team zijn, werken we heel goed samen en ik heb er vertrouwen in dat we het volledige pakket hebben om het goed te doen. Het doel is om een goed winterprogramma te draaien met het team en volgend jaar mee te strijden voor de podiumplaatsen.’’
Commentaar Arminas Jasikonis: ‘’Na lang wachten kunnen we nu eindelijk met het officiële nieuws naar buiten komen. Het was een stressvolle periode omdat alles erg laat is, maar ik ben heel blij dat ik voor dit team kan gaan rijden. Ik ben heel gemotiveerd voor volgend jaar en het geeft me een warm welkom dat het team zo gemotiveerd is om er alles aan te doen. Dit geeft me vertrouwen dat we in 2022 mooie dingen kunnen laten zien. Ik heb vanaf de laatste Grand Prix niet meer gereden maar gelijk was het gevoel op de Yamaha erg goed. Ik reed gelijk op een zanderige baan met veel knippen maar de motor voelde erg stabiel en luisterde goed naar mij.’’
Commentaar Klaas Hattem (Gebben van Venrooy Racing): ‘’Ik ben heel blij met de line up voor seizoen 2022. Calvin Vlaanderen heeft zijn contract verlengt en begint aan zijn derde seizoen met ons. Arminas Jasikonis komt nieuw in het team. Ondanks hun jonge leeftijd hebben ze al de nodige ervaring op de 450cc motor. Ik heb er vertrouwen in dat we met het huidige pakket voor een verrassing kunnen zorgen. Ik kijk dan ook uit naar het nieuwe seizoen.’’
Gebben Van Venrooy Racing confirm 2022 MXGP rider line up
After a long and exciting 2021 MXGP World Championship, the Gebben Van Venrooy Yamaha Racing team are quickly turning their attentions to the 2022 season. The season is scheduled to get underway in the UK at Matterley Basin on the 19th and 20th of February. It means a short turn around and less of a winter preparation than normal, but the team are excited to get the new season underway.
Heading into the 2022 season, the team are delighted to announce that Calvin Vlaanderen will be staying with the team in what will be his third year under the team’s awning. Joining Vlaanderen in what will be a very strong line up will be Lithuanian talent, Arminas Jasikonis. Vlaanderen has agreed a one-year contract extension with the team while Jasikonis has also inked a one-year deal.
Jasikonis has been a full factory rider representing Husqvarna in the MXGP paddock the past three years and the team are delighted to welcome him to the Yamaha family and are looking forward to the 24-year-old reaching his full potential.
Calvin Vlaanderen: I’m very happy to be continuing my relationship with Gebben Van Venrooy Racing for the 2022 season. We have grown a lot as a team in the last two seasons and I expect nothing less for next season. Although we are a small team, we work really well together, and I believe we have the full package to do well. My plan is to put in a solid off season this winter preparing with the team and to come out next year fighting for podiums.
Arminas Jasikonis: After a long time of waiting, we can come out with the official news. It’s been a stressful time because all is so late, but I’m really grateful to be riding for this team. I’m super motivated for next year and it’s a really warm feeling that the team is so motivated and working so much with everything. This gives me confidence to say that we will do great things next year. I’ve rode the Yamaha and I haven’t been riding since the last GP but the feeling was really really nice. I rode straight away at a sandy and bumpy track, but the bike felt really stable and really listening to me.

Calvin Vlaanderen has extended his contract and is entering his third season with the Gebben Van Venrooy Yamaha team. New to the team is Arminas Jasikonis. Despite their young age, both riders already have the necessary experience on the 450cc bike. I am very confident that we will surprise with the current package in 2022 and look forward to the season ahead.
