Alessandro Lupino scoort goed in Grand Prix van Turkije

De Italiaanse Kawasaki-rijder Alessandro Lupino heeft ondanks zijn knieblessure goede zaken gedaan in de Grand Prix in Turkije. De niet geheel fitte Italiaan deed met een 11e plaats in het dagklassement goede zaken door een plaats op te klimmen in de tussenstand om het wereldkampioenschap.

Op zaterdag liet Lupino zien goed mee te kunnen  door een mooie 6e tijd in de vrije training en een 8e tijd in de tijdtraining neer te zetten. Een slechte start in de kwalificatieheat zorgde voor een 14e positie aan het starthek voor zondag.

De starts waren op dit circuit erg belangrijk en bepalend voor het wedstrijdverloop. Mede door twee matige starts kwam de Gebben Van Venrooy-rijder niet verder dan een 13e en een 10e positie in beide manches.

Door dit resultaat stijgt Lupino naar de 11e positie in de tussenstand om het wereldkampioenschap. Over 2 weken staat de thuis Grand Prix in Assen op het programma en zal de Italiaan er alles aan doen om deze plaats vast te houden.

 

Alessandro Lupino scores well in the Grand Prix of Turkey

The Italian Kawasaki rider Alessandro Lupino has scored well in round eighteen of the world championship series in Turkey. Lupino wasn’t completely fit due to a knee injury which he sustained at the Bulgarian Grand Prix but still managed to finish in eleventh position overall and managed to move up a position in the world championship standings.

On Saturday he was showing great speed around the Afyon track and set the sixth and eight fastest time in free practice and time practice. In the qualifying heat he took a poor start and finished the race in fourteenth place.

The starts were crucial on this track and because Alessandro didn’t took the best of starts he ended up in thirteenth and tenth position in the motos.

With this result he has worked himself up into eleventh position in the championship. In two weeks time the series continues at Assen in the Netherlands which is the home Grand Prix of the Gebben van Venrooy Kawasaki team.
