Lupino sterk in Loket
Alessandro Lupino heeft een hele sterke indruk achtergelaten tijdens de GP in Loket. Dat de baan in Tsjechië hem goed lag bleek wel uit de trainingen. Elke training in de top tien en een mooie 8e positie in de kwalificatieheat.
In de eerste manche kwam de Italiaanse Kawasaki sterk voor de dag. Na een goede start kwam Alessandro in het begin van de wedstrijd op een vijfde positie terecht. Kort daarna stootte hij door naar een vierde positie. Nadat de Italiaan gepasseerd werd door Desalle leek een vijfde plaats haalbaar. Echter een achterblijver hinderde Lupino zodanig dat in de slotfase beide Yamaha fabrieksrijders hem nog passeerden. Een beetje gefrustreerd maar toch tevreden finishte hij op een 8e positie.
Tijdens de start van de tweede manche was het Lupino die na een goede start op positie 2 aan de wedstrijd begon. Echter was het Desalle die tegen de Gebben Van Venrooy rijder aan reed, met een valpartij als gevolg. In het achterveld moest Lupino beginnen aan een inhaalrace, wat hem uiteindelijk nog op een 15e plaats over de finish bracht.
In de daguitslag vonden we Lupino terug op een11e positie. De volgende GP wordt verreden in het Belgische Lommel op 5 augustus.

Strong Outing For Lupino At Loket
Alessandro Lupino of the Gebben Van Venrooy Kawasaki team had a strong outing at the Czech round of the MXGP world championship series at Loket. Lupino was in good form throughout the weekend, and it was clear from early on that he had an affinity for the track. After posting top ten times in all the training sessions, he rode a solid qualifying race to secure the 8th gate.
Lupino continued his confident form into the races on Sunday. In the first race, he started well and slotted into fifth position. Soon thereafter he advanced to fourth. He held steady in this position until Clement Desalle passed him, relegating him to fifth again. A tangle with a lapped rider cost him a few positions, and he eventually finished 8th.
An even better start in race two had the Italian holding onto an initial second position. Alas, Desalle bumped into him soon thereafter, causing both of them to crash. Lupino had to rebuild his race from the back of the pack, but he used his familiarity with the track to best effect to get back to 15th position. He eventually finished 11th overall for the day, which makes the crash even more the pity, since otherwise a strong top ten position would have been his.
The GP circus takes a week’s break, and will be back in action at Lommel in Belgium on 5 August.
